St. Vincent de Paul Juneau – We provide material and spiritual charity and work for social justice for all people.

Frequently Asked Questions

“Are you supported by the Government?”

Less than 10% of our operating budget comes from federal, state and local government sources.

“Where do you get your money?”

The funds we use to operate our non-profit, low-income affordable housing comes mostly from rents paid by tenants and a few small grants. Our shelter and transitional housing is supported mostly by the Thrift Store and what tenants can afford.   Funds for our charitable work, our Direct Aid, comes from donations from individuals and local businesses.

“Do I have to be a Catholic to receive help?”

Our mission is to help all people.

“Are you only in Juneau?”

We are just one Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, an international Catholic lay charity founded in Paris in 1832. Our Council serves all of the region of Southeast Alaska. It was founded in Juneau in 1984.
